Non Portuguese Language Readers interested in Power Line Modem
Here I would try to answer some of the frequently asked questions that some of the non portuguese language readers asked :
-
Do you have a translation of your project in English ?
No. I don't. This web page was made in Portuguese,
and since I'm not a very good writer in English (you
probably have noticed it !), I still don't have a translation
of this project in English. Soon I'll get time to write
it all, in a more known language, such as English.
Anyway if anyone out there, who knows Portuguese and
English, and like Power Line Modem features, is willing
to transduce it, email-me. I and many non Portuguese
Readers, will be very happy.

A Small Resume of your project ...
Ok. Here it is :
I'm a student, whose teacher asked me and a friend
of mine to do a study about some Power Line Modem systems,
so we did it.
What did we do ?
We start studying what did we need, to make a power
line modem interface, and after many hours of trying
to make an interface, we found that we really should
use an IC specially designed for this kind of power
line applications. After a little research we found
the ST7537 from SGS Thomson®. We study the data-sheets
and made a design circuitry to interface a micro-controller
from the mcs51 family with another throw the power
line.
When we were ready to make the circuit board, we found
the HTH®, who was selling all the material needed and
a board for a reasonable price. The teacher realize
that we were able to make the board but the time was
running out, so we bought some power line modems from
them, and we finish the project by making all the interface
and programming with the micro-controller.

Do you sell POWER LINE MODEMs ?
No. I don't. This was a part of a non profit project.
Anyway, in my personal view I think that the PLM from
the http://www.hth.com/plm-24 is a very good choice
because is easy to assemble, we don't have to worry
in finding all the material, their service is great
and it's at a reasonable price (Please note that I do
not have some kind of relation with HTH®, it's just
my personal kind of view.

Were can I find more information on Power Line Modems?
You should take a look at some links at the
Useful Links / Biography / Short Notes.
, especially on the
Tomi Engdahl's Electronics Pages
, he as got many links is this subject. Anyway in my
Project Description you'll
find the datasheets from the IC's we did study, so
they should be a valuable information from some of
you, who are trying to make a power line modem.
